DEVELOPMENT 0F ONLINE FOOD ORDERING ND DELIVERING SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT The traditional process of household relocation is often stressful, time-consuming, expensive, and lacks transparency due to inflexible schedules, high costs, and limited real-time visibility. This project presents the Development of an On-Demand Truck and Vehicle Rental Platform for Household Relocation, a web-based system designed to connect users (customers) directly with service providers (truck and vehicle owners) for seamless, convenient, and cost-effective moving solutions. The developed platform enables users to search for available vehicles, book trucks in real-time, make secure payments, track vehicle movement live using the Google Maps API, and rate service providers after completion. Key features include user authentication (customer and service provider roles), responsive booking flow, real-time tracking, payment integration (Paystack), rating and review system, and an admin dashboard for platform management. The system was developed using PHP (backend), MySQL (database), HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (frontend). The project followed the Agile (Scrum) Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), incorporating iterative development, user testing, and continuous feedback. UML diagrams (Class, Sequence, and Activity diagrams) were used for system design and documentation. Results from testing showed good system functionality, acceptable performance, and positive user feedback, particularly on the intuitive interface and real-time tracking feature. The platform successfully addresses major pain points in traditional relocation services by promoting transparency, reducing costs, and improving user experience. This project demonstrates the potential of on-demand digital platforms to modernize traditional industries like household relocation while contributing to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The traditional household relocation process, which often involves hiring professional moving companies or renting trucks from brick-and-mortar rental agencies, can be time-consuming, expensive, and inflexible (Qin et al., 2021). With the increasing demand for convenient and cost-effective solutions, there is a growing need for an on-demand truck and vehicle rental platform specifically designed for household relocation. On-demand services have gained significant traction in recent years, with successful platforms like Uber and Airbnb transforming the transportation and accommodation sectors. These platforms leverage technology to connect service providers with consumers, offering a seamless and efficient experience (Zervas et al., 2017). The success of these platforms has paved the way for the application of the on-demand model to other industries, including household relocation. Professional moving companies and truck rental agencies have traditionally dominated the household relocation industry. However, these services often come with limitations such as high costs, inflexible schedules, and a lack of transparency. The current landscape of household relocation services presents several challenges for individuals and families looking to move their belongings (Ahn et al., 2022). The need for a more user-centric and technology-driven solution has become increasingly apparent. The development of an on-demand truck and vehicle rental platform for household relocation has the potential to address these challenges and provide users with a more convenient, flexible, and cost-effective solution. By leveraging technology, such a platform can streamline the moving process, connect users with reliable service providers, and offer real-time tracking and transparency throughout the relocation journey. The integration of advanced technologies, such as Google Maps API, can further enhance the functionality and user experience of an on-demand relocation platform. Real-time tracking provides users with accurate location information and peace of mind during the moving process (Rahman et al., 2020). By incorporating such features, the platform can differentiate itself from traditional relocation services and cater to the evolving needs of modern consumers. The development of this system aligns with the growing trend of digitalization and the adoption of technology in various sectors. The logistics and transportation industry is undergoing a significant transformation, with on-demand services playing a crucial role in reshaping the way goods and services are delivered (Kumar et al., 2021). The household relocation sector is no exception, and the development of a dedicated platform can contribute to the overall advancement of technology in this domain. The significance of developing an on-demand truck and vehicle rental platform for household relocation extends beyond convenience and cost savings. Such a platform can promote sustainability by optimizing resource utilization and reducing the environmental impact associated with traditional relocation methods (Chen et al., 2021). By connecting users with service providers in a more efficient manner, the platform can minimize unnecessary trips, reduce fuel consumption, and contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
